Privacy Policy

Privacy, By Design.

SheetParse was built on a simple promise: your financial documents are yours alone. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data — which is, in short, nothing you didn't choose.

The Short Version

  • Your PDF statements are parsed entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly and Web Workers.
  • Your files, transactions, and account details are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any server.
  • No account, no email address, no sign-up required.
  • We use Google Analytics for aggregate site traffic only — never to collect your documents or transactions.

How Your Statements Are Processed

When you drop a PDF into SheetParse, the file is read directly from your device's memory by JavaScript running in your browser. Parsing happens in a background Web Worker, and any scanned pages are processed with optical character recognition (OCR) that also runs locally on your device.

The extracted transaction data exists only in your browser tab. When you close or refresh the tab, it is gone. Nothing is written to disk beyond your own browser's memory, and nothing leaves your computer — you can verify this with your browser's network inspector, or by disconnecting from the internet entirely.

What We Store

SheetParse keeps a small amount of non-financial data in your browser so the app works smoothly:

  • Theme preference — stored in local storage as theme, so your light or dark mode choice persists between visits.
  • Export preferences — stored in local storage as sheetparse:exportPrefs (file format, preset, date format, amount format), so your last export settings are remembered.
  • App cache — an optional Cache Storage entry holding only the site's own HTML, CSS, JavaScript and icons, used to load SheetParse when you are offline. It never contains your statements or transactions.

Your documents and the transactions extracted from them are never written to local storage, IndexedDB, cookies, Cache Storage, or any other persistent store. They exist only in the memory of your current browser tab and disappear when you close or refresh it. We do not run advertising or behavioural tracking on your document content.

Cookies & Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit SheetParse and which pages are useful. It loads only after you accept our cookie banner, and records aggregate, non-financial usage such as page views, approximate region, device, and referrer.

This measurement is never applied to your documents. Your statements, transactions, account numbers and the contents of your files are never sent to Google or any analytics service — they are parsed only in your browser. What we collect is basic site traffic, not your financial data.

If you decline, no Google Analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is collected. You can change your choice at any time with the button below, block measurement with any ad/tracker blocker, or opt out of Google Analytics across sites using Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on .

Third-Party Services

SheetParse loads the Geist font family from Google Fonts when you first visit. Google may log the font request per its own policies. No document data, URLs of your actions, or transaction content is ever shared with Google or any other third party. All parsing libraries (PDF rendering and OCR) are bundled with the site itself.

We also load Google Analytics for aggregate site traffic as described in Cookies & Analytics above. Neither service ever receives your statement contents or the transactions you extract.

Children's Privacy

SheetParse is a general-purpose document tool and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page. Because SheetParse processes nothing server-side, any change that would require uploading your data would be a visible and fundamental change to how the product works.

Contact

Questions about this policy or how SheetParse works? Reach us at [email protected].

If you ask us to support a new bank or statement layout, you do not need to send your actual statement. A blank template, a screenshot, or a redacted statement (names, account numbers and amounts hidden) is enough — we never require real financial data to add support.
